For Chef Rio, great cooking begins with sincerity —
cook from the heart, enjoy the process, and guests will naturally feel it.
His culinary journey began at his parents’ bee hoon stall before being shaped through experiences at Fat Cow, Kinki and Kabuke.
At TANOKE, Chef Rio brings together washoku tradition and contemporary creativity, crafting elegant, umami-forward dishes thoughtfully designed to pair with sake.
A finalist in Japan’s World Washoku Challenge in 2015 and 2016, he continues to celebrate Japanese culinary heritage through modern Japanese dining in Singapore.

Please note that TANOKE is located on the 2nd and loft floors of a conserved heritage shophouse without elevator access. We regret that the restaurant is not wheelchair-accessible.
Does TANOKE charge corkage?
Yes. TANOKE charges a corkage fee of $40++ for sake or wine bottles (720ml/750ml) and $60++ for liquor bottles. Corkage may be waived with the purchase of a similar-sized bottle from the restaurant.
